OnePlus Two Release Date, Specs, Price and Rumors Round-up

OnePlus One smartphone was a huge success since it got released. And though Android users were skeptic in the beginning about this new appearance on the Android market, most of those who tried out the OnePlus One have been pleasantly surprised; even with some of the bugs the phone came at first. But now, OnePlus became a well-known name for smartphone’s enthusiasts and it’s no surprise rumors about the OnePlus Two hit the Internet one by one.

While OnePlus is more focused on a single product at a time, much like the Apple’s iPhone, where the actual device is in the center of attention, we expect it to be the same high-quality smartphone it’s thought to be. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want a reasonably priced smartphone with better specs and features that could compete with the greatest flagships from Samsung, LG and HTC? I know I do.

Now, what about those rumors concerning the next OnePlus?

First, you may want to know that Carl Pei, the OnePlus CEO, has spread the word about the next OnePlus Two and the future of the company. He confirmed that OnePlus Two is going to be released in the second or third quarter of 2015. Sadly, for those who are thinking to purchase the new flagship, OnePlus said it most probably use the same invitation-only system, then they’ll switch on to limited preorders.

Apparently, the company wants to keep their unique style by selling directly to the consumer through invitations, and they concentrate more on a friend-to-friend and Internet base marketing campaign. And somehow, this makes it sound like a premium device that’s hard to get.

However, interested persons will still be able to purchase the OnePlus One smartphone once OnePlus Two is out, at a discounted price until the stocks run out. Carl Pei also said that India is going to be one of the first countries where OnePlus Two will be launched.

But let’s move onto other matters, like the price tag and specs.

When we look to buy a new phone, for most of us the price is one of the first things we look at. So, since the OnePlus One it’s in a price range of 299USD and 349USD, depending on the version you choose, we can hope the new smartphone will have more or less the same price tags.

Carl Pei, said in an interview at the CES 2015 conference that the OnePlus Two “it’s still going to be 200USD or more”. After all, they still have to make a high-specs flagship to compete with bigger names and the only reason their device is so affordable is mostly due to their distribution costs and marketing ways. But let’s just say for now that the OnePlus Two is going to be a mid-range priced smartphone. It’s better than speculate over unbased low or high prices.

According to some rumors, specs wise, the OnePlus Two will retain its predecessor display of 5,5-inch, but it’s not clear if it will have a 1080p screen or a QHD one as some of the new smartphones seem to receive. One thing that is clear is it will have 2k resolution.

Furthermore, OnePlus Two will come with a Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM, 3300 mAh battery, 32GB of storage and of course, it will be featuring Android 5.0 Lollipop. It will also get a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. And although OnePlus seems to continue their colaboration with CyanogedMod, the company is also looking for alternatives, such as making their own custom ROM or OEM skin; all of this being in development process.

As for the design, OnePlus will continue with a customizable design, by offering their customers more color and material options.

In the meantime, the company it’s focused on creating the OnePlus Two and they even think about launching a smaller smartphone, but the company hasn’t reavealed any details about it or when they are even going to start working on the idea. There are also rumors about an OnePlus watch, but they are “unsure-if-when and how they’ll release it.

Until then, we can only wait to see what surprises OnePlus has for us and where will they go with the OnePlus Two smartphone.
