Android 4.4 KitKat Dialer Manual Download For non-Nexus Devices
Along with the Google Experience Launcher exclusive for Nexus 5, there is also a new Google Dialer application in Android 4.4 that it was also designed for Nexus and Google Play edition devices. However, it appears that, now, both features are suitable, and cam be installed on other Android devices, as well. For those of you who do not know, the KitKat Dialer comes with a smart caller ID feature, which will recognize numbers from companies that may call you, and it will also present a search feature included within the dialer.
If you are interested in getting this simple yet amazing feature on your device, find out that it can be installed manually on any device that is running KitKat. On the other hand, it does come with bad news as well. As discovered by Android Police, it may require tooting your device in order to make called from the new dialer feature, without even performing searches. It is worth mentioning that even if you install the KitKat dialer, you will still have to keep your old dialer in order to initiate phone calls.
Basically, the dialer comes with an updated UI, features Internet-based caller ID, and perhaps the most important option, is the ability to search for businesses and contacts, both on the device itself and from the internet, from within the dialer. This is a great feature, completely new and different compared with what we see on other devices.
However, even if it was designed exclusively for Nexus devices and Google Play Edition Devices, it appears that everybody is able to get this amazing feature on any Android-based device. It does have some requirements whatsoever. For example, in order to install the feature, users will have to own an Android 4.4 ROM device, either official or custom, and root.
The new KitKat dialer is available as both a flushable ZIP file using a custom recovery or as an APK file that is placed in /System/prov-app. It is up to you to choose which one of these alternatives is more suitable for your needs. However, I have to mention the fact that some users already tried to install the dialer, and they encountered various problems.
It was reported that the app icon does not show up in the app tray. As a solution, if you happen to encounter the same problem, try to use Nova Launcher that will allow users to access various options within an app. Using the custom launcher, users will be able to see the default dialer as active in order for users to receive calls and the KitKat dialer in order to get the additional options.
