How to Make Face Unlock More Secure in your Galaxy S10 Plus

If you were holding out hope that Face Recognition would be more secure on the new generation of Samsung phones, you’re going to be disappointed. It isn’t happening so, but quite the opposite. Face Recognition is indeed fast, but not secure. And security matters more and more these days. Even the manufacturer has admitted that this feature is purely for convenience only to allow you unlock your S10 Plus device faster.

Even so, Face Recongnition is not as secure as other options like PIN, Password, or Pattern. You can now unlock your phone using your photo, so this should make you feel pretty unsecure. Apple’s Face ID can’t be that easily fooled, but it can be bypassed too if you’re willing to take the necessary steps.

At some point, this software might replace fingerprint scanning altogether, but it’s not time to talk about that. If you are concerned about your Galaxy S10 Plus phone security, consider not using this type of screen unlock option. Or I have another suggestion for you if you do like it a lot.

If you’re worried about potential thieves spoofing your mug with photos, then try toggling the Faster recognition setting off, which lengthens the unlocking process by a bit but makes the feature much more secure. It is a compromise you should take in consideration, so here’s how to disable that feature that can make it happen.

Make Face Unlock More Secure in your Galaxy S10 Plus:

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen;
  2. Open Settings app;
  3. After that, you must tap Biometrics and security;
  4. Now, you have to select Face Recognition;
  5. At this point, simply disable Faster Recognition.

Conclusively, when off, greater security is provided. This is therefore making it harder to unlock your phone using an image or even video. Yes, this is an option too. Don’t always think of the worst scenario though. And keep on enjoying what this amazing device from Samsung has to offer.
