HTC One Severely Affected by Android 4.4.2 Update Mono Video Recording Bug
There’s no need for us to tell you that a new Android version is usually a good thing, coming with bug fixes and even new improvements, but here we have an exception. HTC One Android 4.4.2 OTA has started to spread to all owners of this device, but it seems that it has brought some issues along with its usual goodies as well. So, you should know that many HTC One M7 owners have reported that they are experiencing some unexpected issues with the camcorder.
To be more specific, the videos are just recorded with the left audio channel and not in full stereo, as it should normally happen. This problem appeared only after this HTC One M7 has been updated to the Android 4.4.2 software version 4.19.401.11, so if you roll back to a previous version, everything will be work as before. But if this isn’t something that you want to do, there are some other tricks that you could take into consideration:
How to Temporarily solve this Mono Video Recording Issue:
In the first place, this mono video recording issue disappears after performing a reboot, but you should also know that you will record one stereo video before the issue reappears. Too much trouble for something that is only temporarily fixed, don’t you think?
So, in the second place, you can trick the device into capturing stereo sound by using Google Now. After recording a video, you have to close the camera app, to launch Google now and say “OK Google”; then; you must return to the camera app and simply record another stereo video.
But there is once again a problem: you just have to repeat this procedure each time you record a video with this HTC One M7.
So, given the circumstances, we can only hope that the company will soon release an OTA update to fix this bug. We cannot use these tricks forever, that’s for sure.
