How to Enjoy If This Then That Android App
Raise your hand if you’ve ever wanted more for your Android handset. What do you think of the idea of receiving weather notification each morning? Wouldn’t it also be great if your Facebook photos were automatically saved to a separate album? This (and much, much more) is possible with the help of an app known as “If This Then That” (IFTTT).
As developers claim, “IFTTT gives you creative control over the products and apps you love” and this description says all about the app. The idea behind IFTTT is related to simplicity as this app connects two specific services at a time. These are called recipes, and trust me when I say the fact that they are easy to make in a few taps on the IFTTT website or app. You only need to imagine what’s possible when one thing can interact with another, so there is a world of possibilities out there.
So, you have to set a condition, that when met, will trigger an action for the smartphone device. Note that IFTTT names such condition-action combinations as “Recipes”. So, up to this point, I will also refer to them as such.
Find and Create Your Own IFTTT Recipes:
- Take IF by IFTTT from here;
- After you open the app, IFTTT prompts you to create an account. This account permits you to browse through a an entire collection of Recipes, as well as create your own if you want to;
- In order to create your own Recipes, you just have to tap on “Create a New Recipe”;
- Then, choose what you want your phone to do, as well as when to do it; this is the “then that” part of the recipe;
- Actions can make something happen online, like sending an email or posting to Facebook— and in the physical world as well, like making your smart home lights turn on;
- Sit back, relax and let your robot helpers do your bidding;
- IFTTT can control other devices that are synchronized through WiFi or Bluetooth.
With these being said, it’s clear that there are so many possibilities with IFTTT that increase your productivity. IFTTT has dramatically increased the number of things you can connect since it was launched, but it’s still missing some important apps such as WhatsApp, Uber, or Sonos.
