How to Play the Ancestor Game
Ancestor is a fast-paced puzzler mixed with a side-scrolling action runner. I must tell you right from the start the fact that you need sharp reflexes, as well as quick thinking if you want to succeed, just as the fact that there is a special backstory about the creators of the game. It all started with a two members team based in Markham, Ontario. Jennifer and Daniel are sister and brother and they both share a tremendous passion for gaming, besides their degrees in art. They eventually asked their father who is a programmer, and a developer to join them the team and their first game Ancestor, is wonderful in so many ways.
So, if you are into side-scrolling action adventure games that will also test how nimble your fingers are, then Ancestor is a game to take in consideration. If not, you should better stop now or else you will be disappointed.
This time you play as a cloaked hero who must dare to venture across a dangerous landscape full of traps and enemies. There is something that is supposed to help you in your way: I am talking about a mysterious orb that shoots lasers. As your character moves across the screen, let me tell you that he/she will encounter various types of puzzles. One of the puzzles has to do with matching all the hieroglyphics on some sort of a special puzzle pillar. You have to tap the screen to rotate the top two symbols to match the symbol on the bottom. There are also puzzles that require you to match the proper sequence of a group of dots, along with others which make you fall into a chasm, and you have to basically connect a line to the other side, which allows your character to trampoline out of the pit. This is considered a laser jump.
Alone, these things aren’t too difficult to handle, but when they happen in rapid succession, things start to complicate. And don’t forget the fact that your character also has the ability to shoot. In fact, the task of shooting down enemies is essential if you want to make it as the game adapts to your skills and becomes more and more dangerous.
And strange or not, you don’t have to worry about controlling your character. He/She moves forward automatically and this doesn’t always work in your favor. If it takes you longer to solve a puzzle, you may just have a mine launched at you while you are trying to wrap up the puzzle sequence, or there are cases when you might not have enough time to shoot the enemy, but at least things keep on moving.
And I must tell you that this is a free Android game, so you can totally enjoy the whole game without having to spend a dime. However, there are also in-app purchase available to customize your character and the laser orb, but what I like is that you can also unlock all items by collecting the in-app currency during the gameplay. So, you don’t have to pay anything if you don’t want to. You can earn in-game chips as you play, which can also be used to unlock the different cloaks and orbs, though it may take you a fair amount of gameplay to unlock some of these.
But it’s all worthy, that’s for sure! Just take Ancestor from here and good luck!
