Asus PadFone E: More than a classic Android phablet
I personally love Asus and the products that the Taiwanese manufacturer is releasing on the smartphone market. After a successful launch of PadFone X and PadFone Mini some time ago, Asus has prepared the roll out of the unusual PadFone E, unusual perhaps for some, but innovatory for people like myself, who happens to love this strange enhancement of a hybrid smartphone-tablet among those previously mentioned. And one other thing that struck the eyes of ordinary people like you and me, is the device`s dock that comes with its own display and battery.
Perhaps the PadFone E isn’t that high-end smartphone-tablet that we would expect, but rather a mid-range device that comes with some reasonable specs and features and also a decent 410 Euros on the European market and $560 in Taiwan.
And when I say reasonable specs, I am referring to the device`s 4.7-inch display with 1280×720 resolution, being powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU. The smartphone runs on Android 4.3 and only 1 GB of RAM. As mentioned, the dock has its own 10.1-inch display with the same 1280×720 resolution and 5000 mAh battery, which, as our source points out, is an additional help for the smartphone`s only 1820 mAh battery.
Other specs include an internal memory of 16 GB, a rear camera set at 13 MP and Wi-Fi. Strangely enough, it seems that there is no sign of any Android 4.4 making its way through. Perhaps this is the why the hybrid has not been well received by some. To set things on fire even worse, it is supposed that the Taiwanese manufacturer is trying to experience all kind of software twists that might cause a bad name for itself.
As an overall idea, I like how the PadFone E looks, but I am a little bit disappointed of the smartphone`s battery and the same resolution for both the device and tablet dock; not to mention the 1 GB of RAM. Do you like the hybrid guys?
