How to Remove KNOX Software from Samsung Galaxy S6

There are a few OEMs which have decided to implement their own security software in their Android devices and Samsung’s Knox counter security feature (pre loaded on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge) is no exception to that.

The feature is found deeper in the Device’s Memory/Operating system software created by Samsung with the intention to protect its Galaxy devices that come with this program. Up to now, Samsung has managed to implement the KNOX security program on all its flagship devices including the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, but there’s much more to know about it.

According to Samsung, KNOX makes your smartphone more secure. It scans all the files inside your phone and checks for any unusual activity; so, if it happens to lose your Galaxy S6, it cannot be used unless the person has access to your Samsung account. Even more, the thief cannot make firmware changes such as flashing a custom Rom or a Recovery, and cannot hard reset the device.

However, you should also know that the company can detect whether or not your SGS6 has been tampered with, past Samsung’s warranty. Tripping the Knox counter will VOID your warranty, so you should know from the start that it renders your smartphone useless to Samsung’s warranty center and this can be a problem (learn How to Restore the Warranty on your Android device). And even more, it has been confirmed that KNOX drains a good part of the battery life left on your phone exactly when you need it the most.

If you do not want the KNOX software on your Samsung Galaxy S6, then do not hesitate to remove it. In order to do that, you should install a custom ROM which has fully KNOX, but first of all, create a full backup of your precious data which can be very helpful in case something happens during the operation. You also need the latest TWRP installed on your Galaxy S6, as well as the XtreStoLite ROM and do not hesitate to check the battery charge level and make sure that it is over 60% or find the charger and plug it now.
