Learn to Use Reading Mode on your OnePlus 5
Well, the night mode function is available on many Android smartphones. This handy function allows you to apply a filter to the screen to reduce the blue light emitted by your smartphone screen, but have you ever used your smartphone’s Reading Mode? Assuming that you own a handset such as OnePlus 5, this function is there, just waiting to be enjoyed.
What this Reading mode basically does is to effectively adjust the color produced by your handset’s display to be more pleasant to the eyes. It does it by filtering the blue light emitted from the screen and turning it into a monochromatic like which does not affect your eyes as much as blue light does, especially when you are browsing through the web at night or reading a new online book from your favorite author.
In fact, the possibilities of using it are endless; you could just as easily use Reading Mode for scrolling through Facebook or writing an essay in Google Docs, so why not giving it a try too?
In this article, I will tell you how you can activate this function, so keep on reading:
Learn to Use Reading Mode on your OnePlus 5:
- Head to Settings -> Display;
- Select Reading Mode;
- Now, you have to slide the Turn on Reading Mode toggle under Activate manually. Just like that, you’ll notice the color fade out of your display as it shifts to grayscale;
- You may also turn on Reading Mode automatically within certain apps, so go to the Reading Mode settings;
- In the menu, tap Add apps for Reading Mode;
- While here, scroll through your list of apps and tap the apps you want to enable.
That was all you had to do! From there you can just hit the back button and the apps you selected will begin to open in grayscale moving forward.
Even more, I love that the software is also smart enough to understand when Reading Mode isn’t useful. As soon as you launch an app like the gallery, color automatically begins to fill the display, turning back to grayscale after you hit the Home button or switch back to a different app.
