Sony Sirius to be Officially Revealed at MWC
With Mobile World Congress right around the corner, we have the greatest expectations possible. HTC, LG, Samsung, Motorola, Nokia and several other popular manufacturers have already confirmed their presence to this event and now it’s time for Sony to join the list as well. The company has already started sending out its press invites for an event scheduled for the same day as Samsung’s press conference – February 24th. And if you are curious to find out what has Sony prepared for us, all the clues that we have are pointing that its Sony Sirius (D6503) smartphone is the one going to be officially revealed at MWC.
Rumored Technical Specs and Features
Sony Sirius, the successor of Sony Xperia Z was initially rumored as coming with a 5.2-inch display that could have a maximum 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, but more recent records have just reported a 1920 x 1080 pixel display.
The handset also seems to come with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor that can also be found on the current Xperia Z1, despite of the general wish to see it with a Snapdragon 805 chipset. It is true that Qualcomm said to expect devices equipped with the new hardware in the first half of this year, but maybe the companies need much more time for integrating it.
As for the Android 4.4 KitKat OS, we can tell you for sure that this Sony Sirius incorporates KitKat’s native features, but along with some Sony’s additions as well. For example, a recent software leak has revealed a new tab dedicated to managing the power of certain accessories such as the popular Sony SmartBand. And we have even heard about some smart gesture controls as those currently used by Samsung for keeping the screen awake when you’re looking at it or for answering a call by lifting the phone to your head.
Slimmer than its Predecessor
As for its design, it is believed that the next flagship will follow the Xperia Z family’s tradition, although it has also been suggested that Sony Sirius will be slimmer than its predecessor and could actually come with a water-resistance structure. And just as you can see by yourself in the leaked image from above, we can find here a handset having a similar look to the Xperia Z1, but with thinner side bezels, given the fact that Xperia Z1 was repeatedly criticized for its large bezel.
That’s all we know for the moment about the upcoming Sony Sirius, but let’s just hope that we’ll find out more at the Mobile World Congress, as our source also suggests. And you’ll be the first one to find the new details from us!
