MWC 2014: Alcatel Unveils Idol 2, Idol 2 Mini and OneTouch Pop Smartphones
MWC it’s finally here, so be ready for a new release. This one comes from Alcatel that has just unveiled three smartphones: Alcatel Idol 2, Idol 2 Mini and OneTouch Pop Fit. We can tell you from the start that the Alcatel Idol 2 device is placed in the top of this list thanks to its technical specs, while OneTouch Idol 2 mini is just a midrange model, but surprisingly a pretty interesting one that deserves all our attention. As for the Alcatel OneTouch Pop Fit, no one had expected it to be a wearable smartphone, that’s for sure!
Do you want to find out even more technical specs and features, as well as their prices? Then, don’t decline our invite of continuing to read:
Alcatel Idol 2
The first Alcatel model in this line comes with a crisp 5-inch 720p HD screen and houses a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. Its snapper of 8 megapixels comes along with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, but it is obviously that we haven’t used any of these cameras yet, so we cannot give you any additional details at this point.
Although Alcatel Idol 2 features just the Android 4.3 OS, we know that a KitKat update will be released in a few months; as for the price, the 3G variant will become available for €199, while the 4G version will be priced at €250.
Alcatel Idol 2 Mini
This Idol 2 Mini smaller version of the original comes with a 4.5-inch qHD screen and we can assure you that its resolution of 540×960 pixels is good enough for the price that you are supposed to pay in order to have it (only €169 for the 3G version and €209 for the 4G one).
Its 8 megapixel main camera might also come with a 2 megapixel front camera, but the company hasn’t specified exactly what chipset is used here. We only know that it gets the power from a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU and we are sure that for some of you it might be just enough. And the story is similar when it comes to the fact that it currently runs on Android 4.3, but the perspective of a KitKat update sounds encouraging enough.
Alcatel OneTouch Pop Fit
This wearable smartphone might seem a modest choice due to its small 2.8-inch QVGA display and 1GHz dual-core processor, but at least we have been warned. We see here noting more than a pocketable model that comes with some usual compromises as long as it is available for no more than €89.
And while Alcatel Idol 2 and its mini version have a durable aluminum exterior, this Alcatel OneTouch Pop Fit device comes with various back covers in red, blue, black, pink, or yellow, as well as with JBL earphones, as our source confirms.
