Quick Launch the Galaxy S8 Camera
The Galaxy S8 launched and you probably already have it by now. It’s Samsung’s latest flagship, it comes with a package of features and it looks better than ever, so yes, I know your excitement. Today, let me show you how to quick launch the Galaxy S8 camera. After all, there are so many opportunities when having a quick launching camera can make the difference between getting that special shot and missing it completely.
On the Galaxy S6 and S7, the camera app was easily accessible by double-pressing the physical home button from anywhere. But the Galaxy S8 has no physical home button and this requires a change of strategy.
So, how do you quick-launch the camera on this device? The answer is easier than you might be expecting: you must only double tap the power button. Samsung included a slew of customization options and controls on this Galaxy phone and this is one of them.
This simple double tap will quickly launch your camera app, and can even use the camera app without actually unlocking your smartphone. If you want to view previous images you’ve taken on your Galaxy S8 device though, you’ve have to enter your pin or use your fingerprint to actually unlock the device and view these photos.
And I must tell you something: the procedure is extremely simple, I know it, yet I must warn you about that: this option isn’t available on all units. It seems that there are plenty Indian models of the S8 that don’t have this quick launch shortcut.
With the feature unavailable, there’s no way to quickly launch the camera on the phone, at least not at the moment. However, rumor has it that Samsung intends to roll out a software update to bring the quick launch functionality to this handset too and I hope that this will happen as soon as possible.
That’s really all there is to it. If you happen to run into any issues along the way, be sure to let us know in the comments section below, and we’ll do our best to get you back on track.
