Helping Pixel 3 XL Owners that are Losing Text Messages

Are disappearing texts worse than missing photos? It is hard to say that since Pixel 3 XL consumers worry about both these problems. Yes, Pixel 3 XL owners are spontaneously losing their text messages and it’s a nightmare. Is there any fix that could help Pixel 3 XL owners that are losing text messages? Be sure that we are getting there.

Plenty of users have shared that almost all of their text messages have disappeared. I am not simply talking about hiding in the archive, but missing completely. Some of the reports indicate the Messages app misbehaving first, doing unusual things like creating a new thread for existing conversations. Upon restarting the phone, all your older conversations are no longer available.

This isn’t an issue that will affect everyone, given apps like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Telegram are more used for messaging needs these days. But for those of you who rely on SMS with their friends and family, or in their workplace, it’s a significant issue. At the same time, some Pixel 3 have encountered an issue with SMS messages disappearing following the November security patch update.

If you’re among the unlucky few who have encountered the issue, it seems that something can help you get your texts back.

Revert to an older version of the Messages app

Plenty of users have managed to recover lost messages by rolling the app back to an earlier version, which you can do by uninstalling updates from the app details page.

The easiest way to do this is to open the Settings app, Apps & Notifications, then find Messages. From the App Info page, use the menu button at the top-right. Here, you must choose Uninstall updates. This will revert you to an older version of the Messages app, but it may be a temporary fix while you wait for something official from Google.
