Xbox Live On Its Way to Android
Microsoft had the idea of bringing its Xbox Live service into both iOS and Android platforms for several years, but things aren’t that easy as they might seem at first. The company has first introduces its first Xbox-compatible app SmartGlass three years ago along with some other iOS and Xbox hybrid apps, but its initial plans were not forgotten. As you probably know. Xbox Live is currently used in Microsoft’s consoles and Windows or Windows Phone games for friend lists or game matchmaking, but now we know for sure that Xbox Live is on its way to Android as well.
Microsoft Job Posting Reveals the Company’s Plans
Some Microsoft insiders have declared that the company is building a platform to extend Xbox Live functionality to iOS and Android games. And if you still have some doubts about this scenario, we can tell you that even a recent Microsoft job posting reveals these plans: “We will create a modern framework that is open-source, lightweight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS, and Android.”
Major Changes
We all know that Google has its own Google Play Games service, while Apple currently uses Game Center, so it was about time for Microsoft to make such a change. Xbox Live should become the ideal alternative for all those players who want to do some cross-platform gaming.
Even more, as you can see, Microsoft is hiring developers for build the new platform and more changes are included in its list. Xbox Live is about to become much easier to integrate into apps and games. As you know, Xbox Live requires certification and permission from Microsoft at the moment, but after the project will be over that won’t be seen anymore. Microsoft promises us fewer restrictions, as well as improved tools for game developers, so we cannot wait to see all these plans in reality.
