How to Get Pixel 3 Camera app with Night Sight on your Xiaomi Mi 8

One of the things that the Pixel 3 users are so excited about is the handset’s built-in Google Camera app. And one of the features that’s causing so much envy among non-Pixel users is the Night Sight which lets you take great low-light and night time photos like never before. You know that OnePlus also released their own low-light shooting mode called Nightscape with the OnePlus 6T, but when compared to Google’s Night Sight, this one seems like a joke. Sorry, OnePlus, but that’s the truth!

If you’re looking to try out Night Sight, but don’t have the Pixel, Pixel 2 or Pixel 3, you can try out the ports available for your handset and you won’t be disappointed. I know that the feature should normally be exclusive to Pixel devices, but I am glad that folks over at XDA Developer don’t consider that a problem.

They have ported out the Google Camera app and it became available for the Xiaomi Mi 8 handset too. Well, what you are getting now is truly special. The Night Sight Mode doesn’t heavily rely on LED flash to illuminate the scene, as you might first imagine. Instead, thin new feature utilizes the increasingly powerful Machine Learning algorithms to take stock of the subject. This algorithm intelligently selects the right colors that eventually highlight the important aspects of the subject. The end result is detailed and sharp images that have remarkably low “noise”.

Even more, this ported Google Camera can work on Android 9 Pie ROMs or the MIUI Pie Beta ROMs. And I must tell you that besides this nifty Night Sight Mode, it also includes goodies such as HDR+ Enhanced, Portrait mode, as well as video recording up to 4K 30FPS, so what are you waiting for?

Smartphone users can download the APK installer file right away. And you will be surprised to find out that this app does not install over the default camera app, but you can keep it alongside the stock camera app.

I am sure that you are ready to put Night Sight to the test once it’s landed on your device, so let us know how and if you like it.
