Download and Use Cortana on Android
Cortana was a key part in the Windows Phone world, no one can deny that. I have to agree this it was considered as a strong differentiator in the people’s buying decision as it managed to tie together various parts of Microsoft’s ecosystem, including Bing search, Outlook calendars, email, Xbox Music and not only. However, things are about to change for those who are now using the Android system!
A few months ago I was thrilled to find out that Microsoft intends to launch its personal assistance app Cortana for Android and iOS platforms too and this is exactly what is happening now. Cortana for Android has been leaked on the internet and everyone can see that Microsoft’s digital personal assistant, Cortana, is indeed running on Android.
Currently in beta, the stable version is expected to be released to the public before the end of this year. However, what you can enjoy now is a functional version, not to mention the fact that Cortana for Android comes with all the features which are available on Windows 10 which include the latest sport results, setting reminders, weather reports, ask Cortana to tell you some jokes and not only.
What Cortana practically does is helping you find things on your Android device faster than ever, managing your calendar, tracking packages, chatting with you, telling jokes and more, being an ideal personal assistant, just like Google Now is.
How to Use Cortana on Android:
- Take Cortana from here on any Android device you might own;
- Then, you can either type a question in the search box or select the microphone icon and talk to Cortana;
- To activate Cortana, you must say “Hey Cortana” just like you would say “OK Google” for Google Now;
- Cortana is ready to become your new personal assistance and could even replace your Google Now assistance in the future;
- The more you use Cortana, the more personalized your experience will be, so have fun!
Remember that this is only the Beta version, so changes are about to come in the near future. In fact, Microsoft has even decided to release a new update to users who were able to get into the beta testing program. The latest update for Cortana for Android is 184 (20150722.release.google_play.global_release.en-us.184 ) and comes with a few changes (for example, one thing that’s new in this update is the updated icon/logo for Cortana which is now a bit roundish, while before it was just a square). Enjoy them all!
