Prevent Personalized Ads on your Android
Are you also sick and tired of all those personalized ads on your Android device? As you might have noticed up to now, every Android device has a unique Advertising ID. This ID is provided by Google Play services, and is an anonymous identifier that lets the Google ad network recognize your device among the all other Android devices in the world and give you targeted ads.
The results are pretty good since Google uses your browsing history to determine what you might be interested in, in order to display all those ads on your smartphone or tablet. The problem is one of privacy, of course: Google sells ad space to potential customers and promises them to match their ads with users potentially interested in it.
Like that, it must use your advertising ID. And besides that, many of you simply find these ads extremely annoying, especially if you are sharing the device with someone else or ads are not something that you are interested about whatsoever.
Although there is no way to actually disable this ID, you can opt out of ad personalization, so that your unique Advertising ID is never going to be used again to help the services to target you.
Prevent Personalized Ads on your Android:
- Open up Settings on your Android device;
- Then, from your device’s main Settings, scroll down until you find the entry labeled as Google. Tap it right away;
- In the resulting screen, tap the On/Off slider for Opt out of Ads Personalization;
- When prompted, tap OK as long as a pop up will appear explaining that you will still be seeing ads.
That’s all that you have to do. You have successfully opted out of Ads personalization on Android. Your Advertising ID will no longer be used by apps or the Google Ad network to target advertising for you, but even like that, when you’ve opted out, some users are still suspicious.
Well, after all, there is still no proof that Google won’t be tracking you. I mean, you thought so about the location tracking and everyone knows how things turned out in this case, yet you might never know.
