Enable a Night Light Quick Settings Toggle on your Pixel 3

Now that a large portion of our lives is spent staring at a handset’s screen, we’ve started becoming more and more concerned that this behavior may impact the quantity and quality of our sleep. It’s not our imagination running wild, but studies show that we have all the reasons in the world to be concerned about that! Like many phones this year, Google’s new Pixel 3 smartphone offers a feature called Night Light that tints the screen a reddish-yellow to reduce the amount of blue light being given off by the phone’s display.

So, the Night Light feature on Pixel 3 may not be an innovative stuff as similar features have already been introduced by Samsung (Blue Light filter) and Apple (Night Shift), but the point is that it works. Using the feature on your handset makes a great difference if you are in habit of exploring phone contents during night: it will reduce eye strain and maybe even help you sleep a bit better.

If you want, you may also set a schedule for Night Light to turn on or off automatically based on a pre-specified time. If you didn’t know if or when Night Light was scheduled to turn on, just look inside Settings to find out. And if you’d rather handle the Night Light settings yourself, do not hesitate to add a Quick Settings tile that lets you quickly toggle the blue-cancelling filter on or off.

It isn’t at all a hard thing to do, but quite the opposite.

Enable a Night Light Quick Settings Toggle on your Pixel 3:

  1. To try this, swipe down twice from the top of your screen to fully expand your Quick Settings menu;
  2. Now, you have to tap the pencil-shaped edit button;
  3. Do not hesitate to scroll through the list to find the Night Light tile;
  4. After that, long-press the Night Light tile, then drag it up into the darker gray area at the top of the screen;
  5. Next, hit your back button;
  6. Now, you’ll see a new switch for enabling Night Light at any time.

You should now have everything you need to get a good night’s sleep. And even with the Night Light Quick Settings Toggle at your convenience, you should probably walk away from your phone every once in a while, you know. This Pixel phone isn’t your entire world.
